The site is the Appalachian Fairgrounds, located just north of Johnson City. Situated near the intersection of Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia this site has it all. Motorcycling in the area is amongst the best in the U.S.: Deal's Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains, and so much more.

BMW MOA Rally Empty Re: BMW MOA Rally

I live about 90 miles to the south and west of the Nat Rally site. Alcoa is located where the Knoxville airport is located. It is 40 miles from my house to the pumps at the store on the South End of Deals Gap. (please dont ever call it the dragons tail) Out of towners call it "the dragon" the locals call it "the hill". The johnny come lately folks call it the dragons tail.

Is anyone interested in some dual sport riding in the area during the rally? There is some great riding here for the off road types.

After visiting the Rally site for this year rally. This site is about fifty years old and has little flat area to camp. The largest area that if flat is the Baseball fields at the bottom of the hill. If you are dual sport rider I take Coop up on his offer because there are many of mountain back roads in the area that would provide a great ride.

There is a TN Army Nat'l Guard site right next to the rally site. Wonder if we could sweet talk them into letting us old vets use their showers??

There no direct way of get to the NG Bldg because of a creek. I beleive Ray Z of the MOA is trying to get the parking lot for MSF training. I have a feeling that creek is go to get used alot this rally if the lines are long at the showers trailerrs.
