I am try to get a feeling to see if there enough interest in have a no-frills camp out or a mini rally. I believe we have enough money to put something together. What I am looking for is a site, a time frame, and volunteers to help put this on if we go forward.

Update on the MOA and the RA Rallies

Post by vetbmwrider on Sat May 02, 2009 9:03 am

The two main rallies this summer the MOA and the RA up dates.

The MOA Rally.

1. I have requested the two chairs and the table from the rally chair. At this location I plan to promote, The Salty FOG Rally, and club information.

2. The club picnic will start around 1630 hrs in civilian time that’s 4.30 pm on July 17 dinner will be served around 1700 hrs. I will provide the brats and hot dogs and some drinks. I will also be giving away the award to the rider that had ridden the greatest distance to the rally and attended the meeting / Picnic. So please let me know if you going to attend for I purchase the food items.

3. Shift at the beer tent will be 1600hrs until when on Sat. the 18.

The RA Rally.

A. The RA is planning a very scenic rolling rally to RA rally site. This the information off the RA web site about the ride

We are working on a ride from the MOA to the RA. Nothing is cast in stone at this time. We have at least one enthusiastic rider that is willing to be the point person. Details should be coming soon; we just need to confirm a few more things.

We want it to be a "rolling rally" where people can ride solo or in groups. Each night a restaurant or similar place will be designated "the meeting place" You can share experiences of the day's ride with others, maybe there will be some small door prize drawings, etc. Next day you repeat with a new destination. We want to pick destinations where both camping and motels are available.

Hopefully it will run through VA, over the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel (a low bridge that is so long there is a gas station in the middle, with ocean views on both sides) Up the Delmarva peninsula to Annapolis, then to WV. So you will go from mountains to ocean to mountains over the course of a few days. The route was picked because it is loaded with early American historical areas, and goes thru places few riders ever have been to.

We want to give participants different options, things to see etc. We are also trying to design it so daily riding is in the 200 to 300 mile range, and so riders can take side trips if they want.
Lastly we want to design it so it can be ridden in either 3 or 4 days.

B. I know I talked about having a club ride. Well the RA is having a great ride and lunch that helps out the local charity. All this for $7 dollars I think this can be are club ride and there will be door prizes. I plan on giving are door prize away at this ride 1 free year membership to a Veteran that had traveled the furthest to this rally and attended this ride.
